Review:

Wow! Cables are HARD. At least for someone like me who spends most of their time working with amigurumi patterns. I've been crocheting for about 5+ years, and this was my first time working with cables.

I recently went on a crochet retreat, and creating this headband was one of the projects we worked on during our crochet workshops. It looked intimidating, but once you understood the repetition of the pattern, the headband itself worked up really quickly. This took me about 4-5 hours to complete.

The pattern itself was written clearly and straightforward to follow. However, as a visual learner, I did need to stop a few times to re-read each line, and it was also helpful to have an instructor (Lee herself) to ask quick questions. If you're also a visual learner, try looking up her video tutorial on YouTube linked in her pattern info.

The pattern was also easily modifiable. I added extra rows so I could create a roomier headband. I usually wear glasses, so it was important for me not to have a headband so tight that it would squeeze the sides of my head.

This was also the first time I used a wool type of yarn. I normally shy away from wool because it makes me itchy lol. This yarn was only slightly itchy, not so much that it would deter me from re-buying the yarn or annoy me to the point where I wouldn't wear the headband. And it was also VERY WARM. I'm so glad I finished this headband in time to wear for the last remaining weeks of winter! It is 30 degrees (Fahrenheit) where I'm currently staying, so this is perfect.

Now onto the crochet hook. This, too, was also my first time using a Furls crochet hook. I used a 5.00mm hook from Furls, part of their Streamline wooden collection. I personally enjoyed the lightweight ergonomic design. The hook sometimes caught onto the yarn, but that was mainly because I was still getting used to the design of the hook. I normally crochet with the thin metal hooks. I'll post an updated review once I use this hook a little more.

TLDR: Initially, crocheting with cables was challenging, but once I grasped the technique of repeating stitches and working around the front or back posts, it became much simpler. While I can't say I love cables yet, I definitely don't dislike them anymore.
